Tips For How To Make Perfect Digital Art

You may be familiar with some of the most popular digital art programs like Adobe Photoshop, but if you want to make digital art, chances are you’ve probably tried one or two of these programs and struggled to make it work for you. This can be frustrating, especially when you are just starting, but it doesn’t have to be that way. If you know where to start and what tricks can help you get the hang of it faster, making digital art will seem easier than ever before. Here are how to make digital art.

1) Pick the right size

Remember that choosing a size is crucial when it comes to digital art. If you’re planning on using it in your emails, make sure to resize it to no more than 800 x 600 pixels. Likewise, if you want to use it as your Facebook profile picture, make sure that its dimension doesn’t exceed 180 x 180 pixels. This will ensure that your image looks sharp and clear. Also, remember that images with a heavy resolution are usually better for printing because they can be enlarged without loss of quality.

2) Use colors that go well together

The color wheel is your friend. If you have a limited number of colors in your palette, make sure that they go well together so that you can create strong contrasts and avoid clashing hues. Practice with color combinations to develop an eye for which ones work well together, and it will pay off later when you’re painting digitally. A great place to start practicing is by creating pieces of art based on color theory. And remember, Complementary means opposite on the color wheel, not just two colors next to each other!

3) Don’t overcrowd your background

While it’s tempting to cover as much space with colors and shapes as possible, digital art shouldn’t look like a mess of pixels. Choose one main color scheme and stick to it. Then add accent colors using tools such as gradients, textures, or patterns. Just don’t forget to use your judgment, If your design looks too busy or cluttered, take away some colors and elements. If you can’t decide what to remove, think about which parts of your piece are unnecessary for conveying its message. If you still can’t decide what should go, try making a few different versions and compare them side by side.

4) Use a good quality photo

The better your original photo, the better your digital art will look. Don’t use photos that are blurry or not high quality. You can always take new pictures for something like digital art if you don’t have a decent one to work with. If you can, avoid using pictures of people because they are more complicated to edit than most other images. However, if you want to use a picture of someone then make sure it is clear and has good lighting. It is best to use pictures with less color in them as well so that when you add colors they aren’t muddy looking.

5) Work from a template

An easy way to make professional digital art is to start with a template. If you’re unsure where to begin, look for a template that gives you a clear direction on how to proceed and experiment from there. These are especially helpful if you want your digital art to have a certain look or feel without needing much input from yourself. There are also plenty of templates online for how to draw certain objects or characters, like animals, people, and other staples of graphic design.

Conclusion

Creating digital art can be a lot of fun, but it takes skill and knowledge to create truly spectacular pieces. Follow these tips and you’ll be creating brilliant digital art in no time. Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you draw, sketch or paint digitally, the better your skills will become. So get started today.
