5 Signs That Show We’re Living In A Digital World

Everything’s going digital. From the way we communicate to the things we buy and sell, nearly every aspect of our lives has been shaped by advances in technology. As the world becomes increasingly connected, what was once referred to as the digital age has evolved into the world that we live in today where nearly everything can be done digitally, from watching movies and listening to music to dating and shopping online. Read on to discover 5 signs that show that.

1) Purchasing goods online

With e-commerce and online shopping becoming more and more prevalent in our society, it’s obvious that everything has gone digital now. Online business and shopping are great time savers and we can get anything at any time. Global e-commerce sales have gone up to 2.3 trillion dollars as of 2017, which is projected to be over $4 trillion by 2021. This is a massive change from just 10 years ago when people still had trouble with using credit cards on websites. Today, everything has gone digital now. From social media sites like Facebook and Instagram to companies being able to connect directly with their customers with a lot of ease. Everything has gone digital now.

2) Use of Chatbots

Chatbots can provide some of these services, and they can deliver them 24/7 without requiring you to be available. Bots are getting more sophisticated all the time. An emerging area of research is focused on emotional bots, chatbots that can display empathy or sadness, for example. It’s also possible that cognitive behavior therapy could be delivered via chatbot one day. There are already apps out there designed to help people with anxiety disorders manage their symptoms.

3) Smart homes

For example, if you open your home’s smart thermostat at 7 am, chances are that your home will be warm and toasty by the time you get out of bed. This is one small way that homes have gone digital. They think for us, we don’t have to. Not only can they save us time and money but they also ensure our quality of life. They make our lives easier! They make it possible for us to live in comfort without having to do any work! It’s as simple as turning on a switch or pushing a button. Imagine how many hours a day people used to spend keeping their homes comfortable before modern technology made things more convenient. And even though these devices might seem complicated, they’re quite easy to use.

4) Communicating with friends through social media

Of course, social media is just one of many ways to connect with friends, but it’s quickly become one of the most convenient. If you have trouble keeping up with Facebook and Twitter, for example, try limiting yourself to checking those sites once or twice a day. Check messages on WhatsApp and ask friends on Messenger to text instead of calling. Not only will you save time, but also money.

5) Finding local businesses online

As of 2016, almost all local businesses now have an online presence. More and more people are doing their shopping online, which means you can also find many local businesses online. Type Dog Grooming in your area or whatever your specific location is into Google Maps, Yelp, or another search engine to start exploring what’s out there. If you need help finding local merchants that provide professional services for home repairs, look into Angie’s List or HomeAdvisor. This has made it easier than ever before to find local businesses quickly. You can even narrow down your search by price range, so if you’re on a budget, you won’t be overwhelmed with options.

Conclusion

Technology has infiltrated every aspect of our lives, and there’s no denying it. It’s not a question of whether or not you use technology, it’s how well you use it. Regardless of what side of digital you identify with, chances are you have a smartphone within your arm’s reach at all times. The above five signs are a sure way to show you that we’re living in a digital world.
